Have fun this Labour Day long weekend, but pay attention on roads and highways.
That’s the message the Ontario Provincial Police stressed yesterday (Thursday) as they announced that they’ll be conducting a weekend blitz on distracted driving.
OPP officers have investigated a total of 5, 619 collisions so far this year that involved distracted drivers with 1,051 of those involving injuries.
They are reminding drivers that even holding a cell phone or other electronic device while driving is against the law with the penalty for distracted driving a $490 ticket and the loss of four demerit points.
