The second blood drive of the week in Timmins is running today. Joanne Drake, the Territory Manager for Canadian Blood Services, says they aim to collect over 200 units of blood this week. Drake says Timmins hasn’t reached our goal in blood donations in many years. Timmins has been at about 88-percent of the target for the last couple of years. Although that number is slowly rising, donors are still needed.
Drake says a common misconception when donating blood is medication. Even though you are taking a certain medication, you could still be eligible to donate. Call 1-888-2-DONATE to see if you are able to give blood.
Head over to the St. Dominique’s Church Hall from 12 until 2:30 PM on Thursday the 27th, or from 4 until 6:30 PM to donate. Appointments or walk ins are welcome.
