Terry Fox Run Celebrates a Special Year

It’s almost time to dust off your running shoes for this year’s Terry Fox Run.

This year’s run to raise money for cancer research will be the 38th for Timmins as well as Canada. Organizer Cathy Davis says not only has the run been going for a long time, but it would have also been a special year for Terry Fox himself.

Davis says this run aims to live on Terry Fox’s legacy of finding a cure for all cancers. She says last year Canada raised $21.5-million that was given to different research agencies across the country. She says all of the money gets put into research and making sure people can live and hopefully survive the disease.

This year’s run will take place from 11:00am to 2:30pm on September 16th at Gillies Lake. There will be a fun run, family walk and fundraising barbecue hosted by the Kinettes.

You can register online or on the day of the event.
