Heart and Stroke’s Timmins Office is Closing

Timmins’ Heart and Stroke Foundation office will be closing at the end of the month.

The organization says because of some financial struggles it will be closing shop in Timmins and letting go of it’s one employee. National Director of Community Engagement Kari Flannery says Heart and Stroke will still have a presence in Timmins through school fundraisers and Jump Rope for Heart.

Flannery say the bigger fundraisers, like Big Bike, will not be run in Timmins next year. She says the foundation saw a drop in people participating and donating to the cause. She says that fundraiser will only be held in some of the bigger urban centres where it still gets a big draw.

The local office will officially close on August 24th and the sole employee will be let go. Flannery says after that a new representative will be taking over the region.

She says she is confident that the foundation will continue to have a big impact on the region, just on a smaller scale.
