Timmins High School Gets State of the Art Track and Field

Summer construction is well underway on a new track at Timmins High and Vocational School.

District School Board Ontario North East says the school is getting a new rubberized track and artificial turf field.

The board says the new track and field will allow teams to practice and play games on its own grounds so it won’t have to rent the Timmins Regional Athletics and Soccer Complex. TH&VS will be the first school in Timmins and north of North Bay to have this kind of infrastructure. DSB One says this kind of facility will also allow the school to host board, regional and provincial track meets and soccer games.

The project is expected to cost $3.3-million. DSB One says the turf field will be finished by the fall and the special rubberized track will be installed next year.

Other construction projects include each school will getting a new outdoor LED sign and PA system.
