Water Restrictions Now in Effect

Some water restrictions are now in effect in Timmins.

The city says because of the hot and dry weather, engineering is implementing a few restrictions for outdoor water use. From now until the end of August, houses ending in even numbers can water their lawns on even numbered days and those living in odd numbered houses on odd numbered days.

You can fill up small pools or put on a sprinkler for your kids at any time, as long as you and your children are actively using it. The city says if the sprinkler is running on a day you aren’t scheduled for and no one is actively using it, you can face penalties. These restrictions will stay active until the end of August or if more restrictions need to be put in place.

The city says if Timmins goes into an emergency period, the Mayor will make a temporary proclamation that will restrict water consumption further. It says any use of outside water during an emergency period will require a permit from the CAO.
