Timmins now has a fire ban effective immediately.
The Timmins Fire Department says it is working with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry during this hot and dry weather. Deputy Chief Ellard Beaven says with this ban in effect, you can no have any sort of backyard fires within the city limits.
Beaven says there have been fire bans in place south of Timmins for about a week. He says the recent weather has not helped the situation.
Beaven says there is no immediate threat of forest fires in Timmins, but everyone should be doing what they can to prevent it from happening.
