Woman Faces Attempted Murder Charges

A Timmins woman is in jail facing attempted murder charges.

The Timmins Police Service says officers were called to an assault with a weapon on the corner of Mountjoy Street North and Sixth Avenue on Sunday night. Police say a 24-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with injuries and has since been released. A man was also injured, but nothing needing medical treatment.

TPS says at 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged with:

  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • assault with a weapon

A 21-year-old woman is facing four charges including:

  • attempted murder
  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • aggravated assault
  • fail to comply with a probation order

The man has been released from custody and will appear in court July 23rd. Police say the woman is in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
