The identity of the human remains found on Brundy Avenue has now been confirmed.
The Timmins Police Service says on May 18th, officers were called to a car and grass fire in the Gold Centre area of Schumacher. Police say the remains of 23-year-old Kirk Thurston of Schumacher were found in a burning car. Communications Coordinator Marc Depatie says the cause of death is not being released because it is evidence. Depatie says police are leaving that information with the courts.
The family has been notified and police are asking the public to respect their privacy at this time.
As previously reported, murder suspect 41-year-old Richard Green has been arrested and charged. Green remains in custody awaiting a trial.
