TPS is Encouraged by Recent Driving Stats

Canada Road Safety Week stats are in and the Timmins Police Service is pleased with the results.

TPS says this campaign was focused on saving lives and preventing injuries by having drivers address their bad driving habits.

Police say the results are encouraging because during the campaign there were no impaired driving charges, but there is still room for improvement. Traffic Sergeant Mike Tambeau says for one week there were still high stats on drivers speeding and distracted driving. According to a chart previded by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, from May 15th to 21st 31 speeding charges were handed out and two for driving with an electronic device. Tambeau says this is something that needs to change and officers will continue to monitor these crimes.

Below is the full statistics table supplied by the Timmins Police Service.
