Kirkland Lake will be recounting votes

Kirkland Lake city council has agreed to recount the votes from last month’s municipal election. A municipal clerk requested the recount, citing issues with the vote counting machines. The two positions under contention are Mayor and a councilor’s seat. Tony Antoniazzi was elected Mayor, with 57 votes more than the runner up, Ken McCann. The difference between the last seat on council was 21 votes. The recount will happen with the same machines, as mandated by Ontario regulations.
