TPS is Working with the BIA on Downtown Safety

You are being asked to report anything unusual you see happen in the downtown core.

The Timmins Police Service and Downtown BIA are working on making businesses and shoppers feel safer in the downtown area. Police are asking everyone to help the two groups monitor and gauge all kinds of crimes in the area. Inspector Henry Dacosta says if more people report what is going on, the more police can help the situation.

Dacosta says one thing that police are looking at doing is adding auxiliary officer presence in the area to increase the feeling of safety.

Dacosta says police will be working with the BIA to ensure all safety concerns are addressed. The two groups will be gathering information on all calls made over the next three months to see if any changes need to be made to the hours or amount of officers patrolling the downtown streets. All this information will be brought to the BIA and TPS Board at the end of the three months.
