TPS Search for Murder Suspect

Police are searching for a murder suspect related to a suspicious death.

The Timmins Police Service says on Friday evening, officers were called to a car and grass fire in the Gold Centre area of Schumacher. Police say a burning car with human remains was found on Brundy Avenue. Police say this incident is not related to the vehicle found with the Gagnon family a month ago. The victim has yet to be identified and the body is scheduled for a post-mortem examination in Toronto on Tuesday. Police say the victim in believed to be from the local area.

TPS Staff Sergeant Danny Charest says police are searching for a murder suspect. Charest says officers are searching for 41-year-old Richard or “Ricky” Green from Timmins. He is described as white, five foot 10 and about 190 pounds with a medium build. Police add that Green has reddish brown long hair usually worn in a ponytail, a reddish brown goatee, un-kept beard and green/blue eyes. Charest says Green is wanted for:

• Second degree murder
• Arson to property
• Vehicle theft
• Indignity to dead body

Charest says even though the identity of the body is not confirmed, Green and the victim are believed to have known each other and this act was not random. He adds that Green is known to police.

Police say they need your help finding Green. Charest says on Saturday, the TPS Emergency Response Team, OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Canine Unite and Emergency response team searched for Green. He says that Green is currently avoiding police. He says anyone with information about the incident or on Green’s whereabouts is asked to call police, 9-1-1 or Crime Stoppers. TPS says if you see Green, you should not approach him. Charest says even though there is no information suggesting that he is a danger to anyone else, his behavior may be unpredictable and he may be armed.

Police are asking anyone who make have seen a 2006 black Honda Civic (like the one below) in the Schumacher area, possibly driving erratically, is asked to call police.
