A new initiative for youth in Timmins has been launched. Timmins Interact is a youth rotary club for kids ages 12 to 18. Sebastien Vermette, from Timmins Interact, says the focus is on community events. Different fundraising projects will be looked at, like Christmas Candle and ham sales. Vermette says the direction of the club is decided amongst themselves, and the Rotary Club is there to guide and support. Benefits for kids to join the club include learning how the corporate world works, and how to create fundraising events the kids are passionate about.

Recruitment is ongoing, and tonight is the first meeting at the YMCA on Poplar. For more information, visit Timmins Interact on Facebook.
