Audible Pedestrian Lights in Timmins

The Municipal Accessibility Advisory Committee has made a presentation to city council about audible pedestrian lights. The main intersection brought up was at Algonquin and Mountjoy. Dan McKay, who made the presentation, says the volume isn’t loud enough and can be difficult to hear. He is asking for the volume to be raised in the daytime hours, from 11 AM to 6 PM, and then lowered in the overnight. Councillor Scripnick says he was wondering if the times would work for the businesses in that area. He says he thought the times might be better suited if it was from 10 AM to 7 PM, but if the Holiday Inn is good with it, than so is he.
Although the Holiday Inn has had some complaints in the past, McKay says they are on board with the new plan. The matter will come back to city council.
