Council Approves Spring Clean-Up

You will have the opportunity to get rid of some of your winter clutter.

Timmins City Council has approved spring clean-up work to take place from May 22nd to June 1st. This is costing the city $53, 574. 00 plus HST. Mayor Steve Black says this is a great program that helps a lot of people in town. Black says you will be able to put some garbage and clutter on the curb to be picked up by Waste Management of Canada Inc.

He says there are some rules that you have to follow for the curbside pickup including:

  • No Concrete and asphalt
  • No Batteries of any type
  • No Tires
  • No Electronics
  • No Propane tanks
  • No White goods or items that contain Freon
  • No Recyclables
  • No Paints/ liquids/fuels/chemicals
  • No Mattresses or Box Springs that are not securely wrapped in plastic

Th city says items are not collected as they are typically diverted to other recycling facilities and do not belong in a landfill site. It says some of the items are also listed as hazardous waste material and also do not belong in municipal landfills.
