Police are asking for information on a family of four related to a vehicle fire on a rural road in Timmins.
The Timmins Service says on Friday, a burned vehicle was discovered on Price Road with three bodies in the vehicle and another nearby. Police say a family driving along the road found the burned vehicle and called police at about 6:00pm. TPS says when crews arrived, the vehicle was no longer burning. Staff Sergeant Danny Charest says it is not clear as to when the fire happened.
The bodies and burned 2004 Chrysler Intrepid have been taken to Toronto for further investigation and a post-mortem examination is scheduled for later this week. Police are not revealing any information, including names and age, of the Pope deceased until the post-mortem examination is over.
Charest says he can say that police are looking for any information on 37-year-old Joey Gagnon, 34-year-old Tammy Gagnon, 16-year-old Cole Gagnon and 14-year-old Brandy Gagnon. Charest says the vehicle was registered to one of the people named.
Charest says the family has not been reported missing, but they are looking for any information or sightings.
Price Road is back open to the public and police say the investigation has moved to a local home.
TPS says a family has been notified of the investigation so they are braced for the eventually positive identification of the victims and the possible outcome.
Police say at this point foul play is not being ruled out, but there is no threat to public safety. TPS says officers are looking for any information from within the last week on the Gagnon family or the 2004 Chrysler Intrepid. Officers say this will help narrow down timelines and streamline the investigation.
