Timmins Major Player Drafted to the OHL

A Timmins Major player is being drafted to the North Bay Battalion’s during priority selection.

17-year-old Gabby Kioki is the first player from the Attawapiskat community to be heading to OHL tryouts. Kioki says he heard the news about being selected on April 11th and is very excited.

Kioki says it is a great honour to be selected during the priority draft. He says he does quite a bit of training, but he is really going to have to step up his game to make the team.

Kioki says he is hoping this can lead to a career in the NHL. He says he will be heading to North Bay for tryouts on May 25th and 26th. Kioki says he isn’t sure when he will find out if he makes the team or not.  He says if he doesn’t make the cut, he would play for the Battalions’ farm team.
