Dollars from Donuts Raised for Humboldt Broncos

Many people are fundraising for the Humboldt Broncos hockey team and community, but one campaign gaining a lot of local attention is the Tim Hortons’ Broncos Donut fundraiser.

The Humboldt Broncos’ bus collided with a semi-trailer on Friday night killing 15 of the 29 people on the bus and putting another 13 people in the hospital.

The company is selling green and yellow donuts for $1 each with all the money going towards the junior A team. One of the managers at the Tim Hortons on Algonquin Boulevard across from Hollinger Park, who wishes to not be named, says these donuts are flying off the shelf. He says he actually has to go out and buy more supplies to make them for tomorrow.

There is no running total right now because they are going so fast, but a grand total and break down will be released once the campaign is over. The manager adds that there is an amazing amount of local support making this campaign worth it.

In terms of global fundraising, the GoFundMe page that has been set up to raise money for the community and the team’s families has a running total over $8.5-million.
