Timmins Man Gaming to Break Guinness World Record

A Timmins man is currently trying to break a world record in the name of Autism.

Stuart Duncan, the creator of a Minecraft server for kids with Autism, is looking to break the Guinness World Record for “longest video-game marathon on Minecraft” to celebrate Autism Awareness Day.

Duncan says will be playing Minecraft for 36 straight hours at the Timmins Best Buy while talking about the Autism spectrum and online bullying on a livestream. He says on average, 25 per cent of kids are bullied, and 66 per cent of kids with Autism are bullied. Duncan says he wants to raise more awareness about this and get people to step up and support kids on the spectrum from being bullied.

The current Guinness World Record sits at 35 hours, 40 minutes and two seconds. Duncan says he has been preparing for this gaming marathon by sleeping.

Duncan says his preparation also included coordinating time keepers, equipment, and witnesses.

He says he will be bringing in Minecraft Youtubers, Autism Researchers and kids with Autism to join his livestream throughout the 36 hours. He says he has many feelings heading into the gaming marathon.

Duncan will also be using the stream to fund-raise for Autism services. Half the money going to his Minecraft server and the other half going to Autism Ontario. There will be a link on the live stream where you can donate, or you can bring Duncan a cheque at Best Buy.
