Racism problems aren’t just within the Indigenous communities.
The Timmins and District Multicultural Centre says racism complaints are reaching newcomers and immigrants as well. Immigration Partnership Coordinator Tom Baby says the centre is working to make Timmins more welcoming.
Baby says the centre is looking to end this problem by helping newcomers work through any issues and celebrating the people who work to eliminate racism and discrimination.
He says the Multicultural Centre would like to participate in an open forum with other community partners to solve all racism issues.
