Timmins Hosts its First Festival of Colours

Spring will be celebrated with colour this weekend.

Northern College is teaming up with the Association of India and the Timmins and District Multicultural Centre to host the Indian Festival of Holi, also known as the festival of colours this Sunday. Organizer Raj Mohanty says this traditional event aims to bring everyone together to celebrate and learn about another culture.

Mohanty says traditionally the festival is held outdoors and people throw colour powder and paint at each other. He says since it’s winter, it will be held inside without the coloured powder, but will include lots of traditional activities.

The event will run from 6:00pm to 10:00pm on Sunday. Tickets are $10 for a vegetarian meal and $15 for non-vegitarian. You must e-mail [email protected] before Saturday for tickets.
