Talks are underway to expand university access in Timmins.
Northern College and Algoma University are working on expanding their partnership to offer more university programs in the northern region. Northern College President Fred Gibbons says the new Algoma courses would reflect careers that are needed or need to be filled in the area like mining, business and environmental science.
Gibbons says the added Algoma courses would be set up like the few already hosted at the school.
Gibbons says talks are underway between the two schools and government. He says he believes some of the new options could be ready by September 2019.
