More student voices will be heard this upcoming school year.

District School Board Ontario North East has passed a by-law to create a Student Senate that will include grade 10 and 11 students from all the schools in the district. Director of Education Lesleigh Dye says this senate will act as an advisory and planning committee to inform the board about student related issues.

Dye says the senate will meet once a month either in person or by conference call to discuss the current student issues.

The senate will start this spring and be in full swing by the fall.
