Kraft Creek Bridge Replacement Approved

A main route to the Timmins Airport will be closed down for most of the summer.

A section of Airport Road will be closing to replace the Kraft Creek Bridge. Timmins City Council awarded Miller Paving the project with a bid of $3.8-million plus HST, which is lower than the $4.5-million the city had budgeted.

The city has also received money through the Small Communities Fund, which has equal contributions between municipal, provincial and federal governments that must be spent by December 31st, 2020.

Work is expected to start in the spring and finish in the fall with traffic being rerouted to Laforest Road.  The city says it is working on a communication strategy and plans on putting up signage on all major routes going to the road.
