Timmins Hopes to “Sock It To Us”

The “Sock It To Us” campaign is back this year.

SOCKS Timmins is hosting a week long campaign to collect new socks for local homeless organizations throughout the city. Coordinator Carol Halt says bins will be set up at multiple city owned and public organizations throughout Timmins and South Porcupine in hopes of collecting a record number of socks.

Halt says drop off bins will be located at the Timmins and CM Shields Public Libraries, City Hall Tax Department, Archie Dillon Sportsplex, Security Office at the airport, Golden Manor and multiple downtown stores.

She says all the socks collected will be donated to local organizations like the Yo Mobile, Living Space and Project Love. Halt says socks are some of the most needed articles of clothing for the homeless because they wear out faster than things like coats.

The campaign runs until Saturday.
