The province is providing $25-million in new funding through the Green Ontario Fund and the Northern Ontario Service Deliverers Association is pleased.
Ontario says the money is coming from the province’s carbon market proceeds to help social housing buildings with less than 100 units invest in energy efficient retrofits. NOSDA says this addition to the program is timely given the hydro costs and lack of natural gas services in the North. It says this program is a great addition considering the previous programs focused on larger buildings, few of which are in the region.
