The Kirkland Lake fire department has received a grant from Union Gas. The funds are to help buy new natural gas detection equipment. Union Gas donated 25-hundred dollars, saying the department gets called to a lot of suspected gas leaks, and upgraded equipment will help to keep the firefighters safe. Kirkland Lake has 10 full timers, and serves about 10-thousand residents.
