Council Changes the Budget Process for 2018

The 2018 municipal budget process is changing from last year.

Timmins City Council will be breaking down the process into different sections of the budget, not just by department, to streamline the process. CAO Dave Landers says last year’s process went too long and was not well-organized. He says this process will reduce the number of presentations to the distinct budgets that council has to look at and approve.

Landers says this way the process is more streamlined and easier to follow for councillors. He says this also helps the departments set themselves up for a multi-year budget plan.

Council will be looking at items in the expenditure budget including community development, public works and engineering at its next meeting. That will get underway at 6:00pm on Wednesday in Council Chambers.
