Children Celebrate Their Rights on National Child Day

Children are being celebrated at the Ontario Early Years Centre.

The organization is celebrating National Child Day by opening its doors to young children. Program Coordinator Rachele Pelletier says National Child Day is celebrated every year on November 20th to mark Canada’s signing of the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of a Child and the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of Children. Pelletier says the children are celebrating with crafts including flag decorating.

She says it’s important for parents and kids to know their rights.

Pelletier adds the theme to this year’s National Child Day is a “child’s right to be safe”.
