A letter-support campaign will be a big part of Timmins bid for the Ring of Fire smelter site.
Timmins is one of four northern cities to be asked by Noront Resources to bid for the smelting and refining Ferrochrome Production Facility.
Timmins Economic Development Cooperation, the city and Timmins Chamber of Commerce are currently working on getting a proposal together for the smelter site to take over the current Kidd Operations site. Chamber President Jamie Clark says the organization will be collecting letters of support for the project from local businesses. Clarke says the businesses need to show their support for the project.
TEDC Chief Executive Officer Christy Marinig says the letter-writing campaign will be an essential part of the proposal.
Timmins bid has to be submitted by February.
