A housing study in Timmins has been completed. Ed Starr of SHS Consulting, presented a report to city council Monday night outlining the primary housing issues in the community. Homelessness, demand for special needs housing, age and poor condition of housing stock, and lingering affordability problems were all outlined. A plan to go forward to address the immediate and long term needs was pitched, which has five main strategies. Among them were maintaining and protecting existing stock, and fostering new affordable housing supply.
