Schumacher Lions Club Turns to Radio for Stan Fowler Christmas Fund Fundraiser

Big things are changing with the Schumacher Lions Club Stan Fowler Fund fundraiser.

The Lions Club will be taking a step back from its annual telethon to team up with 93.1 Moose FM for a radiothon.

The Stan Fowler Fund raises money for food vouchers to give to local families in need near Christmas.

Chairman of the Stan Fowler Fund John McCauley says this decision is due to the rising production costs for a telethon. McCauley says last year the telethon raised $70,000 in pledges.

McCauley adds that the club dipped into its contingency fund to give out $32,700 in food vouchers. He says this is what made them decide to go a different route this year.

Lions Club President Robert Huff says this is an important fundraiser for the community and they couldn’t see it end. Huff says club members will hand deliver the food vouchers to the different families in town.

The radiothon will run from 6:00am to 6:00pm on Moose FM on December 7th.
