EQAO 2017 Results Released

Education results are back from the Education Quality and Accountability Office.

Statistics show a low percentage of students are at or above the provincial level in math at both District School Board Ontario North East and the Northeastern Catholic School Board.

Here is a break down of all the results:

DSB One (percentage of students are at or above the provincial level):

Math -grade three students dropped from 48 per cent in 2016 to 46 per cent in 2017

-grade six students bumped up one per cent from 28 per cent in 2016 to 29 per cent in 2017

-grade nine students in academic math dropped from 63 per cent in 2016 to 61 per cent in 2017

-grade nine students in applied math dropped from 37 per cent in 2016 to 35 per cent in 2017

Reading -grade three students dropped from 54 per cent in 2016 to 53 per cent in 2017

-grade six students jumped from 69 per cent in 2016 to 71 per cent in 2017

Writing -grade three students dropped from 57 per cent in 2016 to 52 per cent in 2017

-grade six students increased from 61 per cent in 2016 to 64 per cent in 2017

 

NCDSB (percentage of students are at or above the provincial level): 

Math -grade three students stayed the same at 53 per cent

-grade six students dropped from 39 in 2016 to 35 per cent in 2017

-grade nine students in academic math dropped from 76 per cent in 2016 to 74 per cent in 2017

-grade nine students in applied math jumped up one from 27 per cent in 2016 to 28 per cent in 2017

Reading -grade three students bumped up from 55 per cent in 2016 to 57 per cent in 2017

-grade six students dropped from 70 per cent in 2016 to 69 per cent in 2017

Writing -grade three students dropped from 57 per cent in 2016 to 56 per cent in 2017

-grade six students dropped from 65 per cent in 2016 to 62 per cent in 2017

 

Neither school board could respond to calls from the MyTimminsNow.com newsroom. Staff is working on getting reaction and action plans from both districts.
