Aquatic Centre Debates Continue

A hot topic in council seemed to bring up old arguments.

Timmins City Council was looking to discuss the RFP from Perkins and Will of $1,260,327 for the Aquatic Centre Projects construction ready services at last night’s meeting. Some Councillors had some push back on whether or not the city should move forward with the project stating the proposed tax hikes, while others said it is a quality of life investment. Mayor Steve Back says this has already been discussed multiple times.

Black says the city has gone through all the necessary studies.

He adds that once council finalizes the detailed design study, it’s one step closure to applying for grants to help fund the project. Black says the discussion on the Perkins and Will RFP will continue to a council meeting in the near future.
