Epilepsy Support Groups in Timmins

Two new support groups in Timmins have been created as a result of the Young Adult Epilepsy Summit. July’s summit in Washington had 20 invited members from across America to network and brainstorm. Timmins native Jessica Croussette was among those who attended, and she has since created different groups in the city for those living with, or affected by, epilepsy to attend. Crousette says, “the summit made me realise that stigma, fear, and ignorance have a great hold over society which in turn makes it very difficult for people like me who have epilepsy to ‘come out’ and feel safe or normal.” Not including brain injuries, there is around 450 people with a seizure disorder in Timmins. The support groups are below, and there is no cost or commitment.
