No Police Charges in Mattinas Death

The SIU has finished its investigation into the death of 56 year old Paul Mattinas. No Timmins Police officer will be criminally charged, as there is no conclusive evidence to say how Mattinas died. He was brought to the hospital by police in April after they decided he needed medical attention. He was then later found dead in a parking lot after being released from the hospital. Acting Director of the SIU, Joseph Martino, says police acted lawfully and with due care.
