This month has been named Colon Cancer Awareness month and the Porcupine Health Unit is sharing information.

The health unit has teamed up with Cancer Care Ontario to run the awareness campaign “Call the Shots on Colon Cancer”.

Public Health Nurse Valerie Genier says the campaign encourages people to get screened with a take-home test.

Genier says when caught early, nine out of 10 people can be cured.

The tests can be picked up at your healthcare provider or by calling Telehealth Ontario.
