Census Data Shows a Population Drop in Timmins

New Statistics Canada data is showing that the Timmins population has dropped 3.2 percent over the past five years.

Recently released census data shows that the population of Timmins was 41,788 in 2016 compared to 43,165 from 2011. The Cochrane district also saw a population decrease from 81,122 in 2011 to 79,682 in 2016. That is a drop of 1.8 per cent

Stats Canada will be releasing more information explaining the changes, whether it’s related to birth and death rates, immigration or inter-provincial migration.
