The mayor of Timmins is now a director with the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards. The group defines the roles of police boards across the province. Tom Laughren represents Zone 1 A. The Timmins mayor is one of four northerners on the 14-member group. Another well known northerner on the board is Gerry Loughheed Junior of Sudbury.
