News Resident Starts Online Petition for City Council SHARE ON: Mackenzie Read, contributor, Monday, Jan. 23rd, 2017 A Timmins resident is trying to get City Council to look into privatizing the Golden Manor. Jessica Trudel has started an online petition to have council look at the possibility of changing the Manor to a non-profit model. Trudel says a report done in 2015 by KPMG states that moving the Manor to a non-profit model would save the city over $2-million. She believes council needs to look at every option to figure out what is best for the community. Trudel says council has refused to look at privatizing as an option because of lack of community support, but hopes this petition will show otherwise. She plans to bring a full petition to council in hopes they will consider this as an option.
