Timmins City Council has agreed to pay $2-million for a new fire station for the Whitney volunteer department at Northern College. Mayor Steve Black believes this is a critical asset and will be an important facility for the college. He says the college is paying for the remaining balance of the $8-million facility through grants. Construction on the fire hall is expected to begin in the spring.
