Andre Grzela Steps Down from City Council

Timmins City Council is about to have an empty seat. Ward One Councillor Andre Grzela has announced he is resigning from council. Grzela and his family will be moving to Orleans, Ottawa for the opportunity to open a hot tub store. He says the hardest part of his decision, is having to leave Timmins. Grzela believes this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and couldn’t pass up the chance to dive into business. He says the city with a heart of gold will always be near and dear to his heart. His decision also requires him to leave his position as MPP Gilles Bisson’s Administrative Assistant. Mayor Steve Black says he is disappointed to see Grzela leave, but wishes him and his family all the best. Grzela will continue his role on council until January 3rd, to wrap up any unfinished business. Black says council will have a special meeting next week to discuss the options for filling the position. Council has to decide to either appoint someone to the ward one position, or hold a by-election.
