Possession of illegal moose costly for New Liskeard man

The owner of Bill the Butcher shop in New Liskeard has been fined $1,000 for possessing an illegally killed moose.  In addition to the fine, William McMillan can’t butcher moose, deer or bear for two years.  McMillan had already been warned twice for having illegal killed moose in his business. So when the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry was tipped off that he was ignoring the warning, it carried out a sting operation.  Thinking a plainclothes Conservation Officer was a customer, McMillan said he could make the butchering of an illegally killed moose look legal.  The comments were made this past October, and once made, the MNRF had the information it needed to charge McMillan.
