Reducing preventable falls

Most falls among seniors are preventable and the Porcupine Health unit is trying to reduce the number.  Figures from last year show that 33 percent of Canadians over 65 had some sort of fall.  The reasons vary from something as simple as tripping over a loose rug or just rushing too much.  The health unit’s Stay on Your Feet campaign has nine ways seniors can reduce the risk of falling.  One way is to get rid of potential hazards in a room-by-room check.
