Last week’s fatal collision on Highway 11 North between two transport trailers has the MPP for Temiskaming-Cochrane talking about the importance of passenger rail service in the north. The crash closed the highway in both directions for a while and John Vanthof says whenever this happens, it creates many problems for people. Vanthof says that includes preventing people from getting to healthcare visits or to family. The Ontario Liberals cancelled passenger rail service in the north five years ago, and Vanthof says it’s time they reinstated it.
