Hughes: One year in, Trudeau Liberals have work to do

This week marks one year in office for Justin Trudeau.

While he’s made good on some promises, Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP Carol Hughes says the Liberals have a long way to go. Hughes says the NDP’s will continue to stay on top of them to make sure they are following through with all of the promises made during their campaign.

Hughes says while there has been a difference in tone in parliament, the Liberals seem to be headed in the same direction the Conservatives were. She says some of the main issues that need to be addressed include education funding for First Nations children and gaps in the health care system.

The MP says just because the Liberals have slightly changed a certain piece of legislation doesn’t mean we can assume they are doing a good job. She says there’s so much legislation the Liberals promised they would change, but haven’t such as bill C-51.
