Timmins is spending half a million dollars to do a conceptual drawing of the McIntyre Arena. This was suggested by Councillor Joe Campbell, who says it will be used to look at upgrading the arena to hold more people, with a new foyer, for both sporting and conference style events.

Councillor Mike Doody, who was one of the majority to support the idea, says it’s actually something the city has done before. He says the drawing had options for cost, adding seats, and expanding the arena. He says finding that drawing will go a long way in helping the process.

The $500,000 for the study will be included into the budget for next year, and the city will look to track down the original drawing.
