FedNor’s budget will not be reinstated after the Harper government cut it down

Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus is not happy about a recent announcement regarding FedNor’s budget. The Trudeau government is not going to reinstate its full budget after the Harper government cut it down. Angus says creating economic diversification in the north shouldn’t be seen as a partisan issue.

Angus says FedNor should be a stand-alone agency, as it is crucial to improving life in northern Ontario. Angus, who is also the NDP’s FedNor Critic, says it’s not possible to talk about economic development in northern Ontario while  simultaneously implementing budget cuts.

FedNor’s budget used to be $76 million, but is now down to $31 million.
