Parliament has officially opened for the term, and the Conservative’s Critic for Regional Development for Northern Ontario says high taxes will be top of mind. Cheryl Gallant says the Conservatives have to be the voice of the taxpayer this term. She says the Trudeau government’s reckless spending and growing deficits are leading to higher taxes, and so that’s something they have to hone in on.
Gallant says the taxes are affecting the entire country, not just northern Ontario. She says as a consequence, there will be fewer and fewer jobs available.
She says the Canada Pension Plan is largely affected by the high taxes, because it is a matching tax. Gallant says that means for every dollar the employee puts in, the employer has to as well. She says there’s only so much to go around for employment, leaving employers to decide who stays and who goes.
